A rare and collectible set of GIEN dinner plates. Six different designs from "Les Adventures du Boucher, Histoire en Six Assiettes" ("The Adventures of the Butcher, History in Six Plates") range. They are 24.5cms/ 9½" diameter and weigh 500gms / 1.1lbs each. The plates are vintage white, with gorgeous illustrations: Le Mouton, Le Pré-salé Le Boeuf, Le Charolais Le Veau, Le Gascon L'Agneau, Le Charmois Le Porc, Le Landrace Le Sanglier, L'Argonnais.
An excellent gift for a Butcher. These would plates would make an amazing kitchen wall display.
None of the plates have chips but all do have an ageing 'hairline crackle' to the glazes, which is to be expected with the age of this set. The 'crackle' covers most of the surface of the plates which, considering their age, does not in any way detract from their beauty or functionality; and in fact adds to the charm and authenticity of these gorgeous items. However the 'crackle' is noticeable and there is some slight discoloration, so you will need to bear this in mind if you decide to purchase these lovely plates as they are in a vintage condition and have been priced to reflect this.
