A mis-matched set of EIGHT vintage, Limoges porcelain, fish plates with fish platter. Perfect for elegant fine dining! All these plates have a super shiny glaze, with a "gilt" line edge and delicate gold "filigree lace" or "leaves and roses" border pattern. The designs show various pairs of freshwater fish swimming amongst water reeds and shells. The details of the illustrations are incredibly accurate and realistic, the colours are muted and subtle, giving them a timeless, understated elegance.
There are FIVE luncheon plates, measuring 21.5cms/ 8½" diameter. THREE dinner plates, measuring 24.5cms/ 9½" diameter. The platter measures 42cms/ 16½" long x 26cms/ 10¼" wide. It is deep too, 3.5cms/ 1¼", so that the fish can be served with sauces and dressings, without risk of spillage.
They are all in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and have the "Limoges" mark on their undersides. As with all plates of this age, they have some very, light "wear" to the gilt trims and some mild surface scratches to the motifs. They may also have the faintest beginnings of some "hairline glaze crackle", which is to be fully expected with the age of this set, and does not in any way detract from the beauty or functionality of these fabulous plates. They have many years of service yet to offer.
