Antique Book Stack of French Literature
Antique Book Stack of French Literature
This is a stunning set of five, 100 year old French, books in faded beige tones. These works are by two of France's most famous writers, Jules Verne and Alexandre Dumas, to give your bookshelves added French chic!
These books are genuine French antiquarian books, with authentic timeworn, fluffy pages, yellowed with age spots and delicately scuffed. They are "aged to perfection" and will give you an instant "old library" effect.
The titles are:
"Les Naufragés du Jonathan" Tomes I and II. Jules Verne (1924 editions.) Jules Gabriel Verne (8 February 1828 – 24 March 1905) was a French novelist, poet, and playwright. These two books contain his complete novel, originally written in 1897 under the title "Magellania". It was not published until 1909, after it had been rewritten by Verne's son Michel under the title "Les Naufragés du Jonathan".
The covers of these books are loose and some of the pages are "un-cut" at the edges, they have been like this for 100 years, since publication!
"Les Quarante-Cinq" Tomes I, II and III. Alexandre Dumas (1924 editions.) Alexandre Dumas (24 July 1802 – 5 December 1870) was a French novelist and playwright. This historical novel "The Forty-Five Guardsmen" was written between 1847 and 1848.
The perfect original gift for booklovers the world over. They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft shades. They make excellent film and photo props and would be ideal for a boho, or shabby chic, themed wedding as a table centerpiece decoration.
