A fabulous Moët & Chandon Champagne ice bucket, in a fun Top Hat shape, dating from the 1980s. Iconic and very collectible these ice buckets were a promotional item, never for sale to the general public, given to restaurants, bars and bistros all over France to promote this brand of French Champagne. Made in France, by Allibert, it is molded plastic in the form of an antique top hat. It features a printed band with the "Moët & Chandon" logo around the interior rim. The underside has the makers name and copyright mark.
It stands 18cm/ 7" tall, at the rim it is 33cms/ 13" long x 27cms/10½" wide. It weighs 600gms (1.3lbs). This ice bucket is in great, condition, considering its age. A genuine, vintage item, it has obviously seen some action in French bars and bistros over the years but is still in excellent condition. It has some marks and scratches across the surface, consistent with use, and some very slight discolouration. It has a couple of mild scratches to the band (barely detectable, see photos), nothing whatsoever to detract from its beauty or functionality, it has many, many years of service still to offer.
