Six antique French books in faded green tones. Graded from light green to dark green. There are works by some of France's most famous writers; René Descartes and Denis Diderot to give your bookshelves added French Chic!

This green book stack is made up of very collectible and increasingly hard to find books. Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

The six books are all distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose.
The titles are:
"Les Chefs-d'Oeuvre de Diderot", tome deuxième. (paperback early 1900s edition.) Denis Diderot (5 October 1713 – 31 July 1784) was a French philosopher, art critic, and writer. He was a prominent figure during the Age of Enlightenment. This book contains his works "Paradoxe sur le comédien" (written between 1770 and 1778), "Est-il Bon? Est-il méchant?" (1781), "Ceci n'est pas un conte", (1772) and more.

"Discours de la Méthode, Des Principes de la Conaissance Humaine, Des Passions de L'Amé". René Descartes. (paperback early 1900s edition.) René Descartes (31 March 1596 – 11 February 1650)  was a French philosopher, scientist, and mathematician. This book contains his 1637 work "Discours de la méthode" (Discourse on the Method). His 1649 work "Les passions de l'âme" (Passions of the Soul) and his 1644 work "Les Principes de la Philosophie" (Principles of Philosophy.)

"L'Epoque Contemporaine, de 1789 à nos jours" Première cycle, classe de troisième. A. Ammann et E.C. Coutant (hardcover 1905 edition.) A study of history from the French revolution, through the Empires up to the beginning of the 1900s.

"Encyclopedia Agricole. Législation Rurales" - Etienne Jouzier (paperback 1904 edition.) This is an agricultural encyclopaedia documenting everything you would need to know about farming law and legislation in the early 1900's. This book is a comprehensive guide to all taxes, rights, and restrictions to land, access to water courses, rents and responsibilities for farmers of the Belle Epoch. It also has a beautiful Art Nouveau design on the cover and spine.

"La Géométrie et Ses Applications", René Cluzel et Jean-Pierre Robert (hardcover 1962 edition.) This book is filled with fabulous old diagrams and illustrations of angles, spheres, pyramids, cones and mathematical equations and calculations.

"Textes Choisis pour La Lecture et L'explication", Classes de 3éme- Technique, B. Barthélémy (hardcover 1953 edition.) A wonderful book featuring selected works by all the famous French 19th and 20th century authors and their work, such as Victor Hugo, Chateaubriand, Lamartine, Alfred de Vigny, Honoré de Balzac, Gustave Flaubert, Emile Zola, and Alfonse Daudet.

To display them altogether, in a bundle, you will need a minimum space of 14cms/ 5½" high x 1920ms/ 78" long x 15cms/ 6" deep.
They weigh 1.9kgs/ 4.1 lbs.

These books have been held and read by many, many people who have 'thumbed through' them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.
