Each plate has six shell-shaped "wells" to hold the oysters/scallops. Traditionally your lemon slice sits stylishly in the circular, centre well ready for squeezing onto the oysters.
The wells on these plates are overlapping oyster shell shaped, depressed, slightly, with raised "ridges" and edges, reminiscent of oyster shells. Each one has been layered over the striped base background, so each shell varies slightly from the others. They are fascinating to look at and wonderfully tactile. There cannot be a more stylish way to serve your seafood course at dinner parties.
They are heavy, weighing 600gms/ 1.13 lbs each and measure 23cms/9" diameter. These plates are in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or scratches. They all have the "Pillivuyt, France" porcelain mark on the undersides.
