This set of eight, 1950s French, fish plates are perfect for shabby chic dining!
Sumptuously ornate with their gorgeous, fluted, edge and "ribbed" border. They will have a huge impact at the dinner table with their vibrant illustrations and sparkly "gilt" trim.

This set is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
The plates measure 24.5cms/ 9½" diameter and each weighs 400gms / 14ozs.
There are four different designs (two of each) illustrating various pairs of freshwater fish swimming amongst water weeds in lakes/rivers. The colours are muted, subtle greens and grey/blues. The fish are accurately represented, dynamic in movement, with gorgeous detailing on the heads, fins and tails.

These plates are unmarked but have come from a larger collection of "Lunéville Faience". One of the most famous French pottery manufacturers. It has been located in Lunéville, Lorraine, France since 1730 and is very collectible.
They may have the beginnings of some slight "hairline crackle" to the glazes, which is to be expected with the age of this set, and does not in any way detract from their beauty or functionality.

They are truly gorgeous old plates with many years of service yet to offer.
