A Limoges porcelain, fish platter. This Trout platter measures 40cms/ 15¾" x 26.5cms/ 10½" wide. It is deep sided too", 5cms/ 2", so that the fish can be served with sauces and dressings, without risk of spillage.
It is heavy weighing 1.6 kgs/ 3.5 lbs! It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. It has the "Porcelaine Oiseaux, Pâtes et Emaux de Limoges" mark on the underside.
This platter has a delicate, fluted, edge with "gilt"' trim border, and a beautifully, detailed illustration of two Trout swimming. The colours are muted, subtle greens and grey/blues. The fish are accurately represented, with spots and hints of pink and yellow on the undersides. The fins and tails of the fish have been 'picked out' in fine detail.
This platter would make an ideal table centrepiece for serving a beautifully prepared Trout, Salmon or other fish. It would also be a wonderful party, or buffet, piece for serving stylish canapes and nibbles, to add elegance to your setting. It is ideal for large catering events such as weddings, banquets and big family gatherings. Sumptuously ornate it will be a real "talking point".
It has a mild amount of wear to the edge gilding, barely detectable, and a few light surface scratches, consistent with its age and use. Nothing whatsoever to detract from the beauty or functionality of this fabulous platter.
