Antique Bible 1901-1903 Old Testament

The complete old testament in six volumes, "La Sainte Bible", dated 1901 - 1903.
The Holy Bible, it has the original Latin text, with French translations. Commented after La Vulgate it is written by L.-CL. Fillion, priest of Saint-Sulpice and Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Catholic Institute of Paris, for clergy to use in sermons and seminars etc.
Rare and collectible, they are hardcover editions with wonderful, marbleized, covers. Each one is stunning in its own right and together they make an incredible impact.
Edited by Librairie Letouzey et Ané, Paris, 1901 - 1903, they are in genuine antique condition, as you can see from the photos. They are complete, with no loose pages, but the spines are delicate, and scuffed, and one of the spines has sustained damage. The pages have "age spots" and edge discoloration which adds to their charm and authenticity.
They need to be handled with respect for their age and condition.

Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

If you choose to stand them up (like a normal library shelf) then you need a space 22cms/ 8½" high x 30cms/ 12" long and 14cms/ 5 ½" deep.
They weigh a heavy 7.1kgs/ 15.65lbs altogether.

There are numerous black and white engravings throughout to accompany the notes and illustrate the scientific, archaeological, historical and geographical references.
