A genuine, early 19th century antique French copper lidded pie dish called a "tourtière" in French.
A "tourtiere" is a circular covered container used to braise or bake pie. The handles and feet are made of cast iron and are solidly held on with rivets.
Seen in the kitchens of the renaissance châteaux of the Loire, such as Chambord and Chenonceau, these are rare and collectible, now very limited in number.

This tourtière is in exceptional condition, hand hammered, it is "aged to perfection", absolutely stunning to display, it has all the essential patina and authenticity required for exceptional kitchen styling.

Please take a close look at the photos, they are an integral part of the description.
It is large, measuring 43cms/ 17 inches, to the handles. The base is 30cms/ 12 inches diameter. The lid is 33cms/ 13 inches diameter x 8cms/ 3¼ inches deep.
The overall height is 19cms/ 7½ inches.
The lid fits snugly and tightly over the base to form a complete seal.
Altogether it weighs 2.5kgs/ 5.5 lbs.

Truly stunning, it would look fabulous displayed in any farmhouse/country kitchen.
