Four, early 1900s French books in faded "midnight/dark" blue tones. There is a very collectible travel guide in this stack, with a myriad of "pull out" detailed maps of the Auvergne region of France, alongside some fabulous classic literature by Honoré de Balzac.
The four books are all hard cover editions, they are distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose.
The titles are: "Les Guides Bleus, Auvergne and Centre" (1953 edition.) This book has a big "pull out" map inside the back cover. Exquisite in its detail and packed with information on these French regions it has many expanding map pages, that extend to double pages. It is a comprehensive guide, with town plans and full geographical information. Once you open it you will find it impossible to put down again!
"Notre Littérature Etudiée Dans Les Textes", Tome I, Des Origines à La Fin Du XVIIe Siècle. Marcel Braunschvig (1939 edition.) This is an enormous book, packed full of famous French literary works up until the end of the 17th century. There are selected works by all of Frances most famous writers, La Fontaine, Boileau, Descartes, Racine, Voltaire, Molière and Corneille to name but a few!
"Louis Lambert", Honoré de Balzac (early 1900's edition.) Honoré de Balzac (20 May 1799 – 18 August 1850) was a French novelist and playwright. Louis Lambert is his 1832 novel. This book also has some of his other novels included; "Les Procrits", "Adieu", "Le Réqusitionnaire" and "El Verdugo".
"Un Ménage de Garcon", Honoré de Balzac (early 1900's edition.) This is Balzac's 1842 novel.
