A set of six porcelain, seafood "Fruits de Mer" (French for seafood) dishes, in the shape of Scallop shells. Ideal for serving your entrée/hors d'oeuvre (starter) course at dinner parties. They are excellent dishes in which to serve tapas and canapés too. In a classic mid century design, once you have finished eating and the dishes are empty they still look wonderful sitting on the table with the design at the bottom. They are really unusual and stylish.
All in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There is some slight wear to the motifs, consistent with their age and use, nothing whatsoever to detract from their beauty or functionality. The dishes measure approx. 14cms/ 5½" long x 15cms/ 6" wide and are 3.5cms/ 1¼" deep. They each weigh 225gms/ 8ozs, and stack neatly inside each other for ease of storage.
They all have the 'L'Hirondelle, Porcelaine' (the "Swallow" Porcelain manufacturer based in Mehun sur Yèvre, France) mark on the undersides.
