This is a stunning set of six antique French books in faded royal blue tones. They are 'aged to perfection' and will give you an instant 'old library' effect and give your bookshelves added French chic!

They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky/inky, blues/greens and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots.

This book bundle is made up of French, antiquarian school books, very collectible and increasingly hard to find. They are in genuine vintage condition, as you can see from the photos. They have been held and read by many, many people who have 'thumbed through' them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.

Most importantly they have that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

The six books are all hard cover editions, they are distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose:

The titles are:

Les Auteurs Français du Brevet Supérieur, (1912 edition.) This is an enormous book, packed full of famous French literary works. There are selected works by all of Frances most famous writers, La Fontaine, Racine, Victor Hugo, Voltaire, Molière, Corneille and Jean-Jacques Rousseau to name but a few!

Cours d'Anglais, première année, Adrien Baret (1937 edition.) This book is a guide to learning English for French students. It has tables of English verbs, nouns and adjectives alongside French explanations of conjugation and sentence construction.

Les Vocabulaire des Ecoles, M. Fournier (1922 edition.) This is a wonderful book of French words and sentence construction for 6-11 year old children. It has sections on everything from age and time, the home, birds, clothes, railways, boats and insects to the arts, the human body and French civil code. Once you pick it up its impossible to put down!

Leçons d'Enseignement Scientifique, B. Lamounette et E. Collet (c. 1908 edition.) Lessons in science for primary school children. This book is filled with fabulous old diagrams and illustrations of experiments in heat, light, weight, pressure, electricity, magnetism, gases, liquids, solids and much more! There are sections on food and farming, weather patterns and gardening. It has a few missing pages.

La France et Ses Colonies, classe de première, A. Gibert et G. Turlot (1939 edition.) A fascinating insight into 1930's France and France's colonial empire. There are chapters on population, economy, geography, climate, agriculture and commerce.

Leçons de Morale, J. Launey et Mme. H. Launey (1921 edition.) The moral and civil code of France. How to behave in family and society for school children.

If you wish to display the books in a bundle/stack with string then you would need a minimum space of 15cms/ 6" high x 20cms/ 7¾" long x 14cms/ 5½" deep.
They weigh 2.1kgs/ 4.6 lbs altogether.
