"Nouveau Dictionnaire de la Langue Française" (1863 edition.) This book is 162 years old, and is huge, weighing 1.4kgs/ 3 lbs!
"Dictionnaire Contenant Les Anecdotes Historiques de L'Amour", Tome V, PIE=ZEN, A. Troyes (1811 edition.) This book is 214 years old.
"Oeuvres Complètes de Voltaire, Essais sur les Moeurs, Tome V" (1825 edition.) This book is 200 years old.
"Beautés de l'Histoire des Voyages, Tome Second" (1821 edition.) This book is 204 years old.
"Blaçay par L'Auteur du Nouveau Voyage Sentimental, seconde partie" (1792 edition.) This book is 233 years old.
Condition:
Just one peek at the pages of these books will tell you their age. The typeface and print ooze style and authenticity. The pages are fluffy and soft, scuffed with genuine distress, discoloration and have a time-worn quality that only few books possess. The spines have sustained some damage, but are all the more charming for it!
All are perfectly readable but some of the pages are loose and there may be one or two missing pages. They need to be handled with respect for their age and condition.
These books would make an excellent gift for anyone with an enthusiasm for antiquarian books.
Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.
